Abundance of Time

I was pretty new to blogging when I started 'living with abundance.' But I'd really like to kick it off again.
So, the lapse of time since my initial post is henceforth attributed to an abundance of.... exploration of creativity in other fields.

Living with abundance today is about sharing at least one thing with someone else - something they need. Last night I was gifted some food - a couple of takeaway containers of beautiful salad, in a sheer plastic shopping bag - and pictured myself eating it over the next two days, supplanting my own low budet stores for the week. On my way to the train station I passed one homeless person then another. There was no hiding the fact I had food. Ordinarily if I have something that doesn't need refrigeration or could survive overnight without a fridge, I hand it over. But then the fear: what if I give this to that person and they become sick because they can't eat it all straight away and clearly don't have a fridge to store it in - it looks fresh enough - what if, because we live in this ridiculous litigious age, and it all goes back to the source and they get in trouble and oh, ridiculous thought!

Turning down the steps into the train station, I found a woman in her fifties sitting on a step, a couple of bags. Before I knew what I was doing, my heart opened, and I greeted her, gave her the food with an apology for no fork. She said thank you and smiled. I continued to the train, betwixt one nagging thought about how she will store her food safely, etc, and the commonsense one, well it's just fine, the fulfilment of her stomach is more important.

Praying to Kuan Yin that night, I received a message: that what I should have shared was time to sit down and say hello properly. I can feel it now, sitting here, in the heart, that the salad was not enough. Time costs nothing.

Living With Abundance

Hello,

A good mate once said, "We never have so little that we cannot share it with anybody."

When we consider poverty consciousness, I believe we miss the aspect of abundance. Abundance, to me, is about recognising what we have, whether it be food in the fridge, the start of a good story, a fragment of a song, rain on the lawn, or a good feeling in the heart.

Here is my top five, or six, or a thousand.

Abundance is being warmed by happiness when all around you are moaning about the cold and wandering around in beanies.

Abundance is about the ability to make something nourishing out of next to nothing.

Abundance is enough sleep.

Abundance is the perfect Vegemite sandwich: thick white bread, torn by hard butter, smeared with slops of Vegemite.

Abundance is faith in your ability to share creativity with clarity.

Abundance is three buses in a row, all going in your direction, when one would do.

Abundance is enough time to do your homework well.

Abundance is love for the universal.

Abundance is compassion for those who would otherwise shit you to tears..

Abundance is...

I will be adding to this from time to time. What does abundance mean in your life?
